Fun time with friends...

I have lots of crafty crafting friends and a few weekends ago, Sharon and I converged on Joyce's home on Friday night and began a weekend of crafting!

The first thing we made ended up taking all day long on Saturday.  Of course, we were hampered with a jammed eBosser, trying to figure out how to unjam it and not damage the unit, trying to figure out the directions for the card, and looking up different crafting products online, etc..  Oh, and not to be left out, Joyce also fed us some delicious tuna salad sandwiches with provolone cheese and chips for lunch and dinner was a scrumptious casserole made for us by her husband, Rick, before he left for a golfing weekend. It was so good, we asked for it for lunch the next day. We also had Boston Cream cake and a lemon cake to snack on.

Our inspiration was a birthday card from Stamptramp: Time Machine Birthday Card.  Sharon and Joyce decided to put their age on the last panel and I chose the number of children and grandangels as my magic number.

Sunday, we chose a really cool pattern that Joyce had purchased online for a flower cart.  The cart turned out really well but we didn't get the flowers made to fill the cart.  I'll post a picture of it when I make some flowers for it.

Sharon and Joyce also made a cute Curio Shelf  from my very favorite company, SVG Cuts, that I had already made and took with me. When they saw it, they wanted to make one, also.  So easy, so quick and so cute!

Phone Scams!

First things first... I LOVE my IKEA cabinets.  I've spent a lot of time rearranging my craft room and I'm liking it much better.  Maybe I'll post some pictures of it in a couple of weeks when I have some time to take them.

Today, while sitting here working on some projects I hope to be able to show soon, the phone rang.  I didn't recognize the town and I don't usually answer calls that I don't recognize the name/number but I picked up the phone, said hello, and even more unusual, waited for someone to respond.  I knew from the get-go, it was a scam but feeling a bit impish I decided to see if it would be a hang-up or they would click in to talk. I could hear the click when the auto dialer switched to a human.

It was a  man with a very heavy accent saying his name was Kane Williams, from a company name he told me so fast I didn't get it down, and he began telling me that my Windows based computer had alerted them there was an internet virus not detectable by my antivirus software, on my computer.  I listened to what he had to say and answered a couple of yes/no questions, pretty sure this was a scam I had heard something about at some point in time, but pretending to be going along with what he was saying

At the beginning of the call, he gave me his phone number as 1-866-539-8674 and his Employee ID as 6019.  I actually dialed the number on my cell phone while we were talking and someone did answer with the name of the "company" I think he had said and I hung up. The answerer also had a heavy accent. Within a minute of my placing that call, he told if I wanted to verify who he was to call the number he gave me (probably because he knew I had already done that).

The caller makes it sound so very urgent that you may want to comply with what he is telling you. I'm sure many folks have been a victim of this scam because of their lack of knowledge of computers and the urgent sound of the caller.

He told me to close all my internet windows back to the desktop, and he would show me exactly where the hackers had entered my computer. He said to press Ctrl-R and type in eventvwr. As he tells you what to do, he ask what do you see on your screen, etc. I actually didn't close any of the windows I had open and did  not type in what he told me and at that point told him I thought it was a scam.  After he unsuccessfully tried to convince me it wasn't a scam and I refused to do as he said, he told me that me and my computer could go to hell then he still tried to talk me into the scam. Ultimately, he hung up on me.

Be wary, folks.. Scammers are a sleazy bunch.  Can you imagine what they could do if they put all that effort into something good.

Be blessed and thanks for stopping by..

Happy 2014!!

What an end to 2013 and a beginning to 2014!  The Christmas season was wonderful with both my children and their families here.  I think it was one of the best Christmases ever!

Son-in-law, Daughter, Grandangel #1, Grandangel #2, Daughter-in-law, Son
(Grandangel #3 joined us on Christmas Day)
Then a couple of days after Christmas, my daughter, Grandangel #1, and I headed to Atlanta to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl to cheer on Coach Cut and our mighty Duke Blue Devils. We picked up a friend of the Grandangel on the way and even though Duke didn't win, it was a fantastic game and we had a wonderful time. Nothing like New Year's Eve in Hotlanta!

The grandangel started her internship at school this week.. a week earlier than students were to return so I took advantage of a chance to spend a few more days with her.  We drove down on Sunday and made a stop at Ikea in Charlotte!  She had never been so it was quite a treat for her.  I bought a couple of cabinets for my craft room and put them together last night and today.  I was amazed at how easy they were to put together.  Ikea rocks!!

Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise, I'll post more soon and will add some pictures.

Be blessed and thanks for stopping by..

When I get ARoundToIt..

What can I say?  I had good intentions of keeping current with post but alas.. good intentions have to be put in motion and not just in thought bubbles!  I kept saying I'll post when I can get around to it, but as I've said before, I'm an excellent procrastinator!  Shoot.. If I was being honest, I might admit I'm just plain lazy!  Well,  I finally got a round to it and here it is, even if I made it myself..

Now, this is the reason I can't get anything done..    It took me all night to make it!  Oh well,  Here I am again and I hope to be here more often but we'll see how it goes!

I haven't been idle all this time away.  I've spent the last two summers at my beloved beach along with my beautiful Grandangel who just turned 21 this week!  She will be a senior in college this year and has spent the last two summers working at The Dunes Club and being my housemate.

Now, this is a perfect example of my good intentions.  I wrote this post the week of July 23, 2013, never finished it, therefore, never posted it and here it is 2014.

I'll add a bit more to this one and then I'll officially start 2014 with those good ol' intentions yet again.

This Grandangel is now in her final semester of college.  I can't fathom that 21 years have passed so quickly.  The next grandangel is now 20 and hoping to enter the wonderful world of nursing.  My 'baby' grandangel is now a teenager and is doing great in school! She is an awesome cheerleader and dancer and sweet as she can be.  Good grief, I'm too young to be this old!

In STITCHES..

Stitches.. the first thing I used to think about when I heard that word is something bad had happened and there was a trip to a medical facility to get all 'stiched' up.  However, now when I hear the word Stitches, I think of pretty materials stacked and zigzaged all around on just about anything you can sew on.  It can be quite expensive to purchase these lovelies and you know me, I have to try to make it myself so that is what I've been up to for the last couple of weeks (in between working in laptop recovery mode).

So, here is the first one I 'stitched' up.. and that's a headband I decided to make just for the heck of it.. hope it fits..

In a trip to Joann's, I found some really pretty material and decided to make another.. Here is a sneak peak..

My Grandangel's sorority is Alpha Xi Delta and I used the Sure Cuts Alot program, a free Greek font set that I found online and the Cricut to cut out the letters.  Have I mentioned how much I love SVGCuts?  Cricut has a Greek letters file in the Cricut Craft Room, but I couldn't get the shadow proportioned so I could sew around it.

Don't you just LOVE.....

Friends:
Thanks so much for your prayers for my daughter, Jennifer.  Her surgery went well and she is home on the road to recovery.  Continued prayers for that recovery and her health in general..

Computer problems:
I have been having computer issues for a couple of months now.. Not on one computer but two - a desktop and a laptop!  I love my laptop and will probably go into mourning when it dies but being the stubborn old codger I am and a do it yourselfer, I don't give up very easily!  I did finally give in and call the HP folks for help with my laptop and I have to say they have been great.  Yes, I did have to pay $59.99 because my warranty expired in 2010 but it has been worth the money.  I'm slowly but surely getting it back to a working state and am so happy.

Guess what the first program and files I've put back on and the ones I was as sick over as photos and data files of other programs.. Sure Cuts A Lot!  I gave a great big Yahooooooozies! when I found those SVG files after the 5th try at restoring the back up I did before taking the laptop back to factory status..

I have lots of work to do to get it back to where I can work with my crafting files like before but it will get there.. Bear with me and hang in here and I am going to be much more proactive with posting things I make.

On a Roll

Finally!  I'm feeling better and actually have a bit of energy today so... I'm on a roll!

You know how I love the SVG Cuts folks.. well last night they posted a really nice freebie file and I've made one box so far and going to make a few more..  These came at just the right time, too, because I have three items that I had no idea what kind of box I was going to use for them. I had planned to make just a regular rectangle box but wasn't all that enthused about it and then Leo and Mary posted their free files for these boxes. LOVE them!  Here is the first one:
All Stampin' Up! materials used for this one!

I stopped typing and made two more instead of waiting until I finished here. I don't think I've ever been as unable to stay on task as I have for the last week..

These were also made with Stampin' Up! papers - Deck the Halls.  The felt embellishments also Stampin' Up! The flower and ribbon in the middle came from Michael's.  Love those sales at Michael's :)

I have to say I'm in dire need of a photography class.  I take the worst pictures of anyone I know.  These really do look better in person!

Getting on a soap box for a minute then I'll bid you goodnight..
Ruby Gettinger is an inspiration to anyone with a weight problem.  I'm so unhappy that her show isn't renewing as are so many other folks.  the following is just a repost I did on http://thebariatricguru.wordpress.com/2011/12/15/please-help-keep-this-show-on-the-air-we-love-ruby/ blog, something I don't usually do!
Geez, no wonder there is a body concious crisis in America.. I just thumbed thru the shows listed on Style network and the titles are "Celebrity Bodies", "Lose 30lbs During the Holidays", Brazil Butt Lift", "Glam Fairy" and "Jerseylicious"!  Just reading the info for each of these shows lets you know right away they are more fantasy than reality and there are not too many folks in the everyday world that to to Millionaire Matchmaker Mixers.. give me a break.. give us RUBY!  RUBY tells it like it really is and is an inspiration to thousands of us who battle the bulge every day!  America needs to GET REAL and stop letting the likes of fantasy reality rule the airways.. PLEASE keep RUBY on the air and let us finish her journey with her!  Thank you!

I guess I've bent your ear enough today so Merry Christmas to all.  Hope Santa brings you something that makes you happy.  Most of all.. Happy Birthday, Jesus! and hope to see you soon!

Craft Store Sales, Freebies, New Blog Candy! What more can I say? Some things I've made!

I've been a tad under the weather for the last couple of weeks and have spent more time than I should have perusing crafting blogs, crafting videos and craft business sites.  As you know, most of the time, you can't go to just one. It's worse than trying to eat just one potato chip!  I have so many sites marked as "Favorite" that if I never added another, I'd have more than enough to occupy me for the rest of my life (and I'm planning to live to be 110, at least).

I thought I would pass along a couple excellent bargains that are going on now.

Custom Crops has over 2000 items under a $1.00 and even more Super Holiday Deals along with their usual Clearance & Goodbye items..

As most of you know, I've been a 'hobby' Stampin' Up! demonstrator for years.  I rarely have workshops but still enjoy the product very much so I'm still hanging on to the demonstratorship.  Today, they added LOTS of items to the "Clearance Rack" with some items as much as 80% off.  If you are interested in buying anything, you can Create an account or Sign in and put my name in for your demonstrator if you like and place an order.  Let me know if you need any assistance.

If you follow SVG Cuts on Facebook, or their blog, you probably already know they have free .svg files to download VERY often.  Well, right now, all for free, they are offering about 28 of their Retired Files for us to download.  They are a class act and I have nothing but great things to say about their product and customer service!

I have made a few cards for Christmas this year using SVG files and the pictures are still in the camera so I'm going to share some tags I made last year to give to my Stamp Club members for our box exchange..  I had made a box that I cased from a Splitcoast Stampers Tutorial and Beate Johns called Top Note Die Box.  I did find a picture of one I made before it was 100% complete.. As you can see, the white card stock hasn't been adhered yet and this piece hasn't been attached to the box and no ribbon.  I do wish I had a picture of the finished box.  If I find one, I'll be sure to post it..
The Top Note die cut, card stock, stamp set are all from Stampin' Up! I used Nestabilities for the red, black and white card stock.  I believe the snowflake stamp was Hero Arts but I can't swear to it..  After all, it was a year ago.. LOL!

And here are the tags I made and split between the boxes for the girls.  I do remember the tag is a cool punch from Creative Memories and the embellishments were from all kinds of different sources from my hoarded stash.  I do know that I surely enjoyed making each and every one of them.

Friends

(I started this post Nov. 11 and just got around to finishing and posting tonight.. 12/15) /sigh
Spending time with friends is always special, whether you see them daily or occasionally.  Sitting down with friends you rarely see and pick right up like it was only yesterday you last saw each other is just too good for words.  This has been one of those weeks.  On Tuesday, I had breakfast with a friend Mirtha Ramey, from high school  (1962 grads).  We met at 9:30, had a delicious meal and talked til 12:30!  We always let the wait staff know we are old high school friends and they so graciously keep our cups filled with coffee and glasses filled with water, tea, soda...  We always part with a "we have to do this more often" and again, it will be a few months before we actually set another date and time to meet.. Well not this time and this time we actually met with two more classmates, one a regular of our sparse get togethers who was not available on Tuesday and one I had not seen in 25 years.  It was so much fun!  Thanks, Mirtha, Judy and Sarah for such a great time!

Tried to take a picture of Sarah, Mirtha and me while we were waiting for Judy to come out but I cut Sarah half into.. sorry gal!

Sarah, Judy and Mirtha in front of Johnny Carinos at Brier Creek
Me, Sarah, Judy..  should have left my glasses on and maybe I wouldn't have had the squinty face.. just got them and forgot they turn to sunglasses outside!

Just head over to Momspotted and check it out!!  She even gives extra entry options. This contests is only open until November 14th so you better scoot!

Predictable procrastinator!

I always heard the older you get, the faster time passes. With every passing day, this becomes more of a reality.  My plans this week were to C L E A N house with special emphasis on my craft room but have I done any of it?  Nooooo..   I've been really busy, but have not accomplished anything on my list of  to do's.  Predictable?  oh yes!

Yesterday, I had breakfast with a dear high school friend, Mirtha, and the topic of  where does the time go? was part of our discussion.  We have so much fun when we get together but we don't make it happen often enough because of being so "busy".  She is a remarkable lady and I'm so blessed to be freind.  We are looking forward to our 50th high school reunion next May..  Talk about where did the time go?  I'm not old enough to be going to a 50th reunion!  Sheesh!

When I opened this up today to share a 'Little Bit of Me' I saw that I tend to use the expression "shucky darn" and "still kickin" often, too. Predictable? oh yes!  So, if you tend to read here, you may hear those terms quite a bit..  Maybe it is just the "Suuthen" (translates to Southern) in me.

So, this predictable procrastinor must say "Lynda, get 'er done" and get busy!!

Ooops, before I go, here is a quick peek of one of  the projects done at an all day class with Lovely Linda Crofton a couple of weeks ago.  Soooo much fun!  I've used the picture that Linda took of it and posted.

Still kicking!

Well, shucky darn - the Good Lord was willing and the creek did rise (more on that later) but I must admit, I've been one lazy blogger!  or am I just one compulsive procrastinator?  Maybe just both!  But I am going to TRY to do better.. the operative word = TRY..
It is going to take me a while to catch up but I am going to TRY!
Let's see, my last post was way back in January and since I can't remember that long ago (LOL) where will I start?

I'll skip to the first of March which took us down to the Orange Lake for a week.  It is our favorite resort and we tend to go down at least once a year.  It was the oldest Grandangel's Spring break and she and her college room mate made our place a place their home base and spent lots of time doing what tourist do..
Florida, Here We Come!!!
Roommate and our First Grandangel!
Ready for dinner and a movie..
Fins to the left of us  - fun at Margaritaville
Perfect, Beautiful Roommates
Bubba and Forrest!
The end of a great night and beginning of a fun week!

Of course, there were many many more pictures taken and we had a great time.

I always take crafting stuff wherever I go and I actually did finish a bracelet (which I gave to the Grandangel - surprise surprise). While I played a daily round of Bingo by the pool, hubs dangled his feet in the water.  I also enjoyed reading the Kindle out by the pool.  I'm still amazed at the ability to read that screen in the bright sunlight.  Thank you, Kindle!

As all good things must come to an end, we reluctantly headed home after a fun filled week of FL sunshine and most assurely enjoyed having the girls there when they weren't out and about!

The rest of the month was probably normal routine including going to our STARS Stamp Club monthly meeting and my friend Sharon and I went to a Painted Petals Card workshop at Archiver's in Raleigh.  Crafting always makes me happy!

Well, I've blogged out today..

More from the STARS Stamp Club meeting..

I played some more with the ticket designs from our STARS meeting on Thursday night and turned them into birthday cards that I thought I'd share with you today.

This one I colored with Copic markers (without doing all the pretty shading) and spritzed with Marshmallow Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. The top ticket is a stamp and I used the Happy Birthday from the Stampin' Up! Warmest Regards Set in each corner and on the ticket. I mounted each piece on black card stock, added some ribbon and some bling and ta-da..

No matter what I've tried, I can not get the true color of the base of this card to show even close to the color it is but I'm going to post it anyway. The ticket images were all colored with Smooch then distressed.. Punched the edge of the card with a Martha Stewart punch and tied some SU! ribbon on.. Shazam, all done!

I'm planning to work on another project we started at STARS before the Christmas holidays and I'll share that when I finish it..

Happy Friday!!

Well, shucky darn... has it really been over a month since I told you A Little Bit of Me?  I have to say I have a new admiration to all the bloggers who actually post daily!  Am I too old to learn how to manage my time better?  I surely hope not.  I've never been a list maker or clock watcher but maybe I should be.. Ok, teach this old as time dog new tricks!

I went to my monthly stamp club meeting at Lovely Linda's last night and did we ever have lots of fun!  Linda has the most amazing studio in her home and I have to keep remembering this commandment: “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."

We try to do a project at each meeting and last night Linda supplied us with a sponge, a dusting brush, a colorful variety of ink pads, post-it notes for masking, blank tickets and a 2.5 x 4 piece of card stock with ticket images all over it and a variety of stamps to choose from for decorating the tickets..
2 of my tickets after masking, coloring and stamping

2.5 x 4 piece of card stock with ticket images
...and here is what I turned out.

The two tickets are attaced using pop-dots and the card is attached to black card stock.  No two looked alike but all were great!  Thanks Linda for another night of fun!
Also, thanks Michele and Laurie.. for the nudge to get back to the land of blogging! :) Now let's work on Sharon.

Hi Y'all..

Yes, I'm still kickin' just not writin' this past week.  I've been either under the weather or recreating my personal and crafting filing system.  Don't give up on me, I shall return with more Little Bits of Me.. :)

If anyone has the Jet Max filing cubes and needs info on getting additional file folders for them, I have the essential info you need to know where to purchase them.  Leave a post and I'll give you the info you need (directly from Jet Max).

Thursday already?

Sheesh.. I can't believe it is already Thursday!  Where DID this week go?

My DH left for the beach early Monday morning.  He woke me to tell me bye and I remember saying "Don't kiss me goodbye, I have a sore throat" and telling him to drive safely and have a good week fishing. I went back to sleep for a little while and woke up with a raging headache so I self diagnosed a sinus headache.  I do belive it turned out to be the crud that is going around. I've been under the weather all week.  I even missed my monthly Star's Stamp Club meeting tonight. I don't take kindly to feeling bad so hubby surely picked the right week to head to the beach.

My intentions this week were to reorganize my craft room and settle down for the long winter nights playing with all my crafting stuff. Since I haven't felt like doing diddly squat all week, I've been looking at what other folks have been up to on all the fantastic artistic blogs. They are so totally awesome, that you can get lost in time and before you know it, Monday becomes Thursday.. LOL

I do plan to share projects here but most of my cards, etc are "cased" and with so many folks designing their own, I'm a little intimidated.

I've added some new blog candy sights so be sure you check them out..

Also, keep my GA #1 in your prayers.  Her knee is getting better.  She goes home next Tuesday and bless her heart, her Thanksgiving break is going to include having her wisdom teeth surgically removed.  I love you, GA!

Home again, home again..

The diagnosis.. OUCH.. My darlin' Grandangel has multiple tears in the hamstring and some meniscus damage.  The did a procedure of taking her blood and removing the plasma (I think that is right) and injected it into the injured area and that is to help the healing process.  She is in a more maneuverable brace and still using crutches.  Prayers are welcomed for the healing process and the pain to be minimized.  She has really been in a lot of pain.

We got off to such a late start taking her back to school on Friday that we decided to stay at a hotel and drive back on Saturday.  We got to school around 11:30pm, unloaded the car and stayed to help her put everything away.  You would have thought it was move in day instead of returning after a week away.  After pulling some summer clothes out to make room for warmer wear, moving her desk around so she can more easily access it with the dreaded crutches in tow, we ended up back at the hotel around 3 am. Remember, this is an Old As Time lady here and my tush was draggin'!  lmbo...

After a totally sleepless night because of an allergic reaction to something in the room, I fell asleep around 7:30am, slept til 11 then stood in the shower and let the water try to wash what felt like slivers of glass floating in my eyes away.  Surely glad checkout is at noon there..

Now, the reason we needed to get her back to school was her sorority initiation was this weekend and it was a weekend full of activities! She is now officially an Alpha Xi Delta sister! Congrats, Grandangel!

I am going to start adding blog candy links on the side bar later tonight so be sure you check them out..  I have one in the last post but saw so many I want to share, I'm going to move it to have them all together.

Be blessed and thanks for stopping by..

Another Day, Another Dollar

Oh wait.. I'm retired, no dollar for me today!

This is going to be another long day. My sweet Grandangel #1 is in college and was working out last week and injured her knee.  After an ER visit, she was put in a leg brace and on crutches. So many folks helped her with everyday task like carrying the meal tray, carrying her book bag, etc.  Thank you all!

I drove DD down on Monday to meet her to get an MRI. We drove home that night.  She was in so much pain the medication was only helping for a couple of hours. Luckily, DD got her an app't. for this morning with a great doctor here so on Tuesday we drove back down and picked her up.  Per the diagnoses today, she has a torn hamstring and some possible damage to the meniscus. The treatment they are doing today will hopefully help in the healing process and no surgery will be needed so prayers from all are appreciated!  Sometime today, we will be taking her back to school (3 hour drive each way) so I'm hitting the caffeinated coffee so driving home tonight I'll be wide awake.. Bet I'll be awake most of the night too. Ya think?

My crafting time has been at a minimal this week, but I did take my copic markers and the images I got in Suzanne Dean's class last Saturday with me and played a while sitting in the hospital waiting for the MRI to be done.  If you have never taken a class with her and you want to learn to color with Copics, that is a great class.. she also has online classes (see blinkie on the right).  Hopefully, I won't be on the road as much next week and can buckle down to playing with my crafting 'stuff'.  I have no idea how the truckers do it. Eighteen plus hours on the road for me is plenty this week!

Hope to share more and more and thanks for stopping by.

'til next time,

Fun..

Sheesh..  there is a lot of work to this blogging thingy! I'm sure I made a typical newbie error but hopefully I won't do it too many more times.  I had the design at a point I could stand it for a new kid on the block, went to look at something different and you know the rest.. I clicked where I shouldn't have clicked and kaboom.. that pretty page was UGLY!  It is many hours later and a totally different look than where I began but my tush says get up and do something else for a while!

Now that I have started this, I have thought of so many things I want to talk about but I need to remember to eat, sleep, etc..  Hey... just thought of a new diet... Blogging for Weight Loss!  Blog instead of eat!

Ut oh..

I can see this is going to get me in TROUBLE!  I just looked at the clock and it is after 4am.  I'm a night owl anyway but good grief, I need sleep! I've always been a stay up late person and I lose track of time when I get started doing anything I like to do.  Will this be another sleep robber! It surely appears to be one more thing I'll be addicted to..

The Saga Begins...

Am I really doing this?
So many of my friends are blogging and I don't want to be left behind so looks like... YEP...
I'm really doing this!

I've never kept a journal, and for that I'm truly sorry. I do believe an incident when I was probably in the sixth or seventh grade kept me from ever wanting to keep a journal.  I had a diary and had started writing in it daily.  A diary was supposed to be private so no one was supposed to pick it up and read it.. even if you left it out in plain sight in your home.  I believe my parents respected that so I had no qualms about leaving it out after writing in it.  It never occurred to me that a visiting relative would pick it up and read it until.... /sigh...  an aunt and uncle came over and the uncle did just that.  I was mortified because I had written about the beginning of that new monthly event young ladies experience..  I never wrote in the diary again and never journaled - until now!

So, if anyone ever reads these Little Bits of Me, I hope you will overlook when I ramble, find something of interest along the way, leave me a post every now and then and come back to see me often.  I'm glad you are here!
